Tessa,
I too was just passing through. You are friends with one of my best friends Eric Dirck. I don’t think he would mind if I emailed you. Your comments are so funny, uplifting and positive. The reason I am writting is that you seem to be a person who might get me on the right track. Not for sure. I have been called into two meetings with my manager and co-workers in the past 2 months b/c of my attitude. I started a new job and am over-whelmed. I am an RN, 39 years old. The girls I currently work with have been there at least 5 years, are all 10 years younger than me and run circles around me. It really has me questioning my skills, etc. Oh well, I am just rambling. I want to read some of your articles and see if a change in thinking will help. Thanks for listening……….Rachel
Dear Rachel,
I’m so glad you wrote me tonight to share what’s happening in your life + to introduce yourself. Thank you for the kind words by the way…
It’s nice to meet you!
Eric is such a good guy–I’ve really enjoyed reconnecting with him on FB. You’ve got great taste in B/F/F’s!
I’m sorry to hear that you’re feeling overwhelmed at your new job, Rachel. From my own experience, being new on the job, no matter the setting, can be overwhelming in itself. I can only imagine what it’s like for you, being a new RN in a pretty high stress, quick moving, place. Must be so much information to juggle, huh?
It’s easy when you feel like you’re flailing to look around at your coworkers, who by your estimation seem to have it all together.
I totally get that! It made me giggle to also read that, “they have been there at least 5 years…” You know where I’m going with that, right? haha
Why do we do that?? (I do it too at times, believe me!) Why compare the inside of ourselves to the outside of another? haha It’s such an unfair comparison and we always lose.
You’re not rambling…sounds like you’re having a hard time and are just trying to express what’s on your mind and heart. That’s a good thing.
Thanks for letting me feel helpful tonight! hehe
At least I hope my words comforted you a little.
You mentioned that you’re wondering if I might be a person to get ya on the right track…I do offer a complimentary initial coaching session (via phone) if you’re just curious about what it’s like to work with a coach and/or how coaching support could be helpful. Just drop me a line, Rachel. Please, no pressure at all though.
If you’re just wondering about other resources or want to ask questions etc., I’m also glad to refer you on to something or somebody that would be helpful.
Psst Hang in there!
Warmly,
Tessa
